Mission Statement
The Cluster of Excellence „Macromolecular Complexes“ at the Goethe University Frankfurt (CEF) was established in November 2006.
Research at the CEF aims at understanding macromolecular complexes, in particular the molecular mechanisms and functional consequences underlying the interactions of biological macromolecules in the cell, or in the cell membrane.
The CEF was selected in the 2006 excellence initiative for substantial funding by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) for an initial 5 year period until 2011. It is dedicated to scientific excellence and early independence of young researchers, and aims to achieve international visibility as a leading centre for research and teaching in the life sciences.
The CEF is an interdisciplinary centre within the Goethe University Frankfurt, assigned directly to the University President.
