Call for Proposals

The Cluster of Excellence Frankfurt “Macromolecular Complexes” (CEF) invites proposals for research projects.

Topic
Research of the CEF aims at understanding macromolecular complexes, in particular the molecular mechanisms and functional consequences underlying the interactions of biological macromolecules (see www.cef-mc.de for further information). Proposals are invited for highly promising, high quality research relevant to this aim. The CEF wishes to give particularly those proposals a chance which due to the high risk of failure involved would not normally be accepted by other funding organizations in Germany.

Eligibility
Eligible is any scientist or group of scientists based in Frankfurt am Main. Proposals do not have to include a CEF member but the subject of the proposal has to fit in with the CEF research. Interdisciplinary collaborations  are especially encouraged as well as applications from junior researchers.

Funding available
A total of 750 000 € are available which will be used to fund 8-12 projects with up to 80 000 € per project to be spent in 2008/2009. Applications will be evaluated by the CEF faculty and external referees.

Application procedure
Applications should include a three-page outline of the proposed research project, a one-page financial plan, a short CV and a list of publications of the last five years. Applications should be directed by e-mail attachment to the Director of the CEF at office@cef-mc.de. The deadline for proposals is the   15 August 2008.
