High school students visit BMLS

June 2019. As part of its outreach activities, CEF and the Buchmann Institute for Life Sciences (BMLS) host every year high school students to introduce them to research in the life sciences research.

A group of high school students from the Otto-Hahn-Schule in Frankfurt visited the Buchmann Institute for Life Sciences on 25 June 2019 to learn about research first hand. The focus was this time on electron microscopy, modern light microscopy and biomolecular chemistry. Students also had the chance to talk in small groups to young international scientists and question them about the experiences. Thiese short interviews formed part of their  school's project week.

The interdisciplinary institute is part of CEF and currently houses eleven research groups from four different departments. The three story building on Riedberg Campus was completed in 2011 and includes also the University's electron microscopy center (FCEM) and the advanced light microscopy center (FCAM). Around 180 people work in the building, many of whom are from abroad.
