Exploring the autophagy network
16 June 2011. Christian Behrends will be funded through the prestigious Emmy Noether programme of the DFG with € 1.5 M for the next 5 years. The young scientist joined the Institute of Biochemistry II at the End of 2010 after completing a postdoc at Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA). His scientific focus is on autophagy, a cellular process employed to dispose useless proteins, damaged organelles or bacterial invaders. Behrends is especially interested in the regulation and dynamics of this process, expanding on the extensive proteomics datasets he generated previously on the autophagy interaction network.
