Venki Ramakrishnan is visiting Frankfurt

One of the world's leading expert in ribosome structure analysis is visiting Frankfurt. Venki Ramakrishnan, Fellow of the Royal Society and Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA, is based at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology,Cambridge, UK. He was awarded the Rolf-Sammet-Professorship 2009 on 22 June at the Goethe University and has given a series of lectures in Frankfurt. His research into the atomic structure of the ribosome, the large protein-RNA complex that translates the genetic codes into proteins,  has shed light on antibiotic function, and the mechanism of tRNA and mRNA recognition and decoding by the ribosome.
