Amparo Acker-Palmer becomes Max Planck Fellow

April 2014. Amparo Acker-Palmer, Professor for Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology at the Goethe University Frankfurt and based at the Buchmann Institute for Molecular Life Sciences on Riedberg Campus, will become associated to the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research as Max Planck Fellow starting from 1 July 2014.

Amparo Acker-Palmer studied Biology and Biochemistry in Valencia, Spain, and completed her PhD there in 1996. Following a postdoc at EMBL in Heidelberg she started her first research group 2001 at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology in Martinsried. She joined CEF in 2007 as associate professor and became full professor at Frankfurt University in 2011. Amparo Acker-Palmer is also associated to Mainz University as Gutenberg-Fellow in the Focus Program Translational Neuroscience and was elected a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in 2012.

Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of guidance cues involved in the formation of nervous and vascular systems. Her research group uses a broad array of techniques including in vivo mouse models, tissue explants and cellular and biochemical assays. More ...
