Publication by Heinz Osiewacz and Karin Luce in Nature Cell Biology
Mitochondria play an important role in ageing processes in organisms. Heinz Osiewacz and Karin Luce report that constitutive overexpression of a serine protease of mitochondria results in strains of the fungal ageing model Podospora anserina displaying an extended lifespan without impairment of vital functions.
